How to Increase Traffic On Your Website For Free [VIDEO TUTORIAL]

In this post today I wanted to show you how to increase traffic on your website with a few of the best free methods that are easy to implement. I know you're probably pressed for time so I will make it as quick and simple as possible. I will make the videos short and sweet and to the point.

If you're ready to rumble, let's crack on and learn how to increase traffic on your website with some simple, free methods that you can start using right now.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website

First things first, social media buttons. Are you using them? They're more or less essential if you want people to share your blog posts on their own social media channels. Can you see the social sharing buttons on this page?

They should be to the left or to the right of this text, I sometimes change things about a bit so I'm not sure where they'll be when you're reading this. (Do me a favor and share this post 😉 )

A great way it is for you to see how social media buttons work on your own sites.

When you share to social media, there is a chance that many of your own followers, friends, contacts, work colleagues and so on, will see it in their social media feeds. Then if they're interested in what you've shared, they click and visit my website to read all about it.

It's a super simple thing to do.

Here's how I do it.

Go to your WordPress dashboard and look in the plugins section. Search for "social media sharing" or something along those lines. Install a plugin (there are hundreds of free ones) and set them up with social media channels.

This can be as simple as telling the buttons the names of your Facebook page, groups, Twitter handles (aacount name), Instagram handles and so on.

If you don't have share buttons installed, that's the best thing you could do right now to start generating traffic from social media for free.

The one I like after chopping and changing a dozen times or so over the past couple of years is called "addtoany". You can see those ones on my site.

Have a look in your WordPress plugins search box for it. It's free. Of course, there are many, many more in there, too. Another good one is social warfare but it doesn't have as many social options with it.

Anyways, watch this video showing a lot of the techniques you should be using to help drive more traffic for free to your websites.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Twitter

Okay, so you've installed your social media sharing buttons and they look fine and dandy. This will benefit you in the short, medium and long term.

When people share your stuff it has the potential to generate much more traffic to your website than without having them. And since it's free to do, why not, eh?

Now we move on to your Twitter account, as it's quite a popular way to get traffic. With Twitter, you should insert a link into your profile where everyone who looks at your profile on Twitter can see it.

Work On Getting More Followers on Your Social Media Accounts

You won't get massive traffic from this unless you've got heaps of followers, but don't leave money on the table, so to speak. Add a link to your site where it's easy to locate and you will get some extra traffic from that alone. It's a 2-minute job.

You could send your followers to a specific landing page on your site or just the home page. Some people use Twitter to send people to their "about" page on their sites.

If you'd like to learn about a great tool that I use for building landing pages in less than 5 minutes, you should definitely check out my Instabuilder 2 review. It's one of my favorite plugins of all time.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Instagram

This is similar to Twitter. Place a link to your home page, your favored landing page or your about page from your website in the bio of your Instagram account(s).

You're not limited to having one Instagram account, in fact, I have 5 myself and I'm toying with the idea of setting up another 5 or more in the near future.

I use a tool to help automate these accounts. The tool helps me get between 100 and 250 new followers per day on each and every Instagram (and Twitter account) that I'm using.

This tool goes by the name of Mass Planner 2. Check it out if you want to both drive traffic to your site and grow your social media channels faster and easier.

Mass Planner can also be used to post to social media. A very robust, versatile tool that I use every day and I definitely wouldn't go without it now I've discovered all of the cool things it does.

Instamate 2 Helps a Lot with Instagram

I also use Instamate 2 for managing 5 accounts at a time. I can post to all of them in about 5 minutes flat from one tool which you can read about here. Both of the above tools are awesome and very, very inexpensive when you consider the return on investment.

You will also do a lot better when you gain a lot of followers on Instagram, as with Twitter. Here's how I get more followers on Instagram in a video I made.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Your Facebook Profile

As with most other social media networks like Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin and Google Plus, it's a good idea to place a link to your website in your bio on your Facebook profile itself. People looking at your profile will see the link and if they like what they see, will click to visit your website.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Your Facebook Page

A Facebook page is a must to set up. Do this and invite people to like it. It will grow over time and as you post things from your website on there, it will be seen by people who have liked tha page. They will then visit your site if what you've posted on the Facebook page appeals to them.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Facebook Groups

This is similar to getting visitors from a Facebook page that you set up yourself. However, the main difference is the groups on Facebook are what others have set up. Search for lots of groups in your niche. Join lots of them that have plenty of members. Don't spam these groups with links to your website, engage in conversations and you'll do a lot better.

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Google Plus

Free Google Applications

UPDATE: Google Plus is now defunct.

You should definitely create a Google Plus account. This is actually done by simply creating a Gmail address and Google will tie in a new Google Plus account with that, as well as give you access to many other apps.

Included are apps such as Google docs, Google Drive, Youtube (create a channel with it), Google Calendar, and many more, some of which you can see in the image to the right.

Once you've published a blog post, copy the URL and head on over to Google Plus. Once logged in to your Google Plus account you can do the following. (Watch the short video).

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Pinterest

Pinterest, just like Instagram, is a primarily image-based social media platform. However, you need to pin stuff that's portrait oriented with an aspect ratio of 4:5 or 2:3. Being a more mobile-based platform, people naturally prefer images that are taller than they are short.

So, you'll get better results using images that are similar to the one at right with the Google apps on it. You can use your new social sharing buttons plugin to do some pinning from your blog post to Pinterest. (Oops, I forgot to show this one in the video, but I'm sure you'll find out how to do that one.)

How to Increase Traffic on Your Website from Linkedin

The same principle applies to Linkedin when it comes to putting your link in the right place. Also, using the share buttons for social media on your site, many of them have a Linkedin button to go with all the others. (see the video)
