How to Create a Squeeze Page with WordPress and Build Your List

In this tutorial video, I'm going to show you how to create a squeeze page with WordPress and build your list of email subscribers. I'm going to show you the best tools to use and how to use them. I will be using a spare website of mine for the purposes of this training.

How to Create a Squeeze Page with WordPress and Build Your List

Email marketing is one of the most profitable ways to make money online that you'll ever experience if you're a blogger or affiliate, if not THE most profitable. That being said, just how do you make a squeeze page in WordPress while building a list of email subscribers?

First, What is a Squeeze Page?

A squeeze page is one of the many names given to a page where you get people to enter their email address. This is part of an email list building strategy that bloggers and affiliate marketers use on a daily basis.

There's a saying and it goes "If you're not building your list, you're leaving money on the table."

...And it's quite true.

When I make my own squeeze pages I'm not trying to rank them in Google's SERPs (search engine results page) because the only purpose of the page is to have an opt-in form which captures peoples' email address.

There has to be a fair bit of content on a page to be worth listing the page and doing all the SEO, etc.

This means that, when I make a squeeze page, I always select "no follow" and "no index" in my SEO plugin, which is Yoast SEO, if you're wondering. It's like making the page invisible to search engines, in layman's terms.

Of course, when creating a squeeze page we need something to give in return for someone's email addy. This is usually referred to as a "lead magnet."

And What's a Lead Magnet?

A lead magnet, simply put, is something you would in most circumstances give away for free. A lead magnet could also have a price tag on it, depending on what your own strategy is.

One thing I have learned, though, is that putting a high price on a lead magnet is not going to get you any subscribers at all. It's like asking a girl you just met if she'll marry you.

I once asked a girl I'd just met if she'd marry me. I didn't even know her name. Do you think she said yes? 🙂

That's right, she said "don't be silly, we've just met!"

And that's the same with charging a lot of money for a lead magnet. People need to know, like and trust you first before they'll get their credit card out and pay for something.

It's always best practice to give away something of value in return for an email address.

Okay, here's the video in which I waffle on and make a landing page (squeeze page) and embed an Aweber opt-in form inside of it to capture those all important emails.

Why Do You Need a Squeeze Page?

It's not essential to have a squeeze page or even to build an email list. You can, in fact, have an opt-in form on any place of your site, such as in a widget in a sidebar, or inside a blog post itself.

A squeeze page, though, is what could best be described as a dedicated page on your website that will entice people to subscribe to your email list. There's a lot less fuss and fluff on a squeeze page than there is on a regular blog post or a sales page.

If you do start building a list, you'll benefit a lot more from your website traffic in the short-term, mid-term and the long-term. Building a list is going to help you make more money on your website than not building a list.
